Preparing & Cooking Bird's Nest

PREPARING : Rinse with water and soak one to two pieces of Chandra Kartika's bird’s nest for 1 to 2 hours.

COOKING :
  • STEP 1 : Double boiling - Place the bird’s nest in a ceramic pot with water (One cup of water per one piece of nest) and cover with lid.
  • STEP 2 : Place the pot with bird’s nests into a larger cooking pot and fill water (one inch below the rim of the smaller pot). Cover with lid. Use high heat to bring the water in larger pot to boil (about 10 to 15 minutes.) Then turn to low heat to cook for 45 minutes. In general, White Nests take 45 minutes to 1 hour to cook.
  • STEP 3 :After cooking, turn off the heat and remove the lid to prevent over cooking. Add a little rock sugar, honey or milk and it is ready to be served. Left over cooked nests can be placed in refrigerator to chill and serve within 3 to 5 days.
